
Mpox Disease Scares Leaders In Mayuge District

District Heath practitioners and Leaders in Mayuge are in fear for the continuous spread of MPOX in the area. The disease was reported to have spread to parts of Kampala a while back with the health ministry assuring the public on situation control
Mayuge is one of the districts that have started improvising ways on how to end the spread in order to protect citizens from acquiring the disease.
Following World Vision Uganda ending its activities of supporting people with MPOX Disease, there has been unrest around the country about a possible pandemic due to the outbreak. In Mayuge District, leaders fear that the disease may continue spreading.
District Health Officer Mayuge Edward Naguyo says that they had got relief from World Vision supporting MPox patients but are now stuck without the next protection plan.
World Vision Uganda, a non-governmental organization ending its activities in Mayuge on MPOX Support affects the district that has 34 patients of mpox. Luckily 29 of these had recovered and 5 are still getting treatment at Mayuge Hospital
Caroline Akongo a staff member at World Vision Uganda in Mayuge, warned people to be vigilant and report those with signs and symptoms of MPOX
She says that MPOX is a dangerous disease that can easily be spread by the careers.
RDC Mayuge Tom Matende warned Boda Boda riders over the disease explaining how the disease is acquired.
Mayuge district got the first patient of MPOX on 19/08/2024.
