ACP Kituuma Urges Calm As Senior Police Directors’ Contracts Expire:Police Spokesperson Urges SOP Adherence As Nation Marks Martyrs Day.Uganda Police Enforces Ebola Measures Alongside Agencie

The Uganda Police Force has assured the public that its operations remain stable despite the expiry of contracts for ten senior directors. Police Spokesperson ACP Rusoke Kituuma says the contract renewals are a routine administrative process and are now awaiting the decision of the Commander-in-Chief, President Yoweri Museveni. He also revealed that police, alongside other security and health agencies, have intensified enforcement of Ebola prevention measures ahead of the Uganda Martyrs Day celebrations.

The Uganda Police Force has moved to calm public concerns following the expiry of two-year contracts for ten senior police directors, emphasising that the development is a normal administrative procedure within the force.

Speaking to journalists, Police Spokesperson ACP Rusoke Kituuma explained that the contracts have already been submitted for consideration and are now awaiting a decision by the Commander-in-Chief, President Yoweri Museveni, who has the constitutional mandate to renew or decline them.

The officers whose contracts have expired are all serving at the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police and head key directorates within the force.

They include AIGP Moses Kafeero Kabugo, Director of Human Resource Development and Training; AIGP Dr. Hadijah Namutebi, Director of Welfare, Production and Sports; AIGP Erasmus Twaruhukwa, Director of Research and Planning; AIGP Felix Baryamwisaki, Director of ICT; AIGP David Wasswa Ssengendo, Director of Counter Terrorism; AIGP Lawrence Niwabiine, Director of Traffic and Road Safety; AIGP John Nuwagira, Director of the Field Force Unit; AIGP Stephen Tanui, Director of Fire and Rescue Services; AIGP Ubaldo Bamunoba, Director of Political Commissariat; and Brigadier General Jesse Kamunawire, Director of Human Resource Administration.

ACP Kituuma reassured the public that the expiry of the contracts has not affected police operations, noting that all departments continue to function normally as the force awaits guidance from the Commander-in-Chief.

In a related development, Kituuma said police, working closely with the Ministry of Health and other government agencies, have intensified measures to prevent the spread of Ebola across the country.

He noted that security personnel have strengthened surveillance at border points, public gathering places, and other high-risk areas to ensure strict compliance with health guidelines.

With Uganda preparing to commemorate Martyrs Day, Kituuma urged pilgrims and members of the public to strictly observe all Standard Operating Procedures issued by the Ministry of Health.

He commended Ugandans for their cooperation so far and emphasised that vigilance remains critical in safeguarding public health during the celebrations.

As the country awaits a decision on the renewal of the senior police contracts, authorities insist that security operations remain uninterrupted while efforts to contain Ebola continue to take centre stage ahead of major national events.
