Archbishop Kaziimba Urges Christians To Strengthen Their Relationships With God
Rtd Rt. Rev. Thomas Edison Irigei was buried at St. Philips Cathedral COU Ngora earlier this week after his passing on the 5th of December at Soroti Regional referral Hospital where he died as a result of Diabetics and Hypertension
He was born on 28th December 1954 at Osopotoit village, Mukongoro Sub County in Kumi district to Mzee Zerubabel Okia and Adeke Esther.
Bishop Emeritus Irigei served in Kumi as the first bishop of Kumi diocese and as a dean of the province from 2001 to 2019 when he retired as a bishop.
Capt. Mike Mukula, the vice chairperson National Resistance Movement Eastern Uganda was in attendance and he urged politicians in Teso to have oneness and build unity bonds amongst themselves
His Grace the Most Rev. Dr. Samuel Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, the Archbishop of the Province of the Church of Uganda has urged Christians to trust in the lord and strengthen their relationships with the Lord.
His Grace was preaching the gospel to mourners at St. Philips Cathedral Ngora during the burial of Rtd Rt Rev. Thomas Edison Irigei, bishop emeritus of COU Kumi Diocese.
Dr. Kaziimba assured Christians of their need for Jesus Christ and invited people to receive salvation.
Capt. Mike Mukula, the vice chairperson National Resistance Movement Eastern Uganda who was in attendance called upon unity amongst politicians in Teso.
Mukula pointed out with concern that since the members of Parliament from Teso were elected they have never sat in a joint meeting.
Capt. Mukula remembers Rtd Rt. Rev Geresom Ilukor the late Bishop emeritus of COU Soroti diocese he says would preach about unity.
Hon Musa Francis Ecweru, state minister for works and transport has said retired Clergy and politicians must be supported when they are still alive.
Hellen Adoa Abeku, State minister for Fisheries described the late bishop Irigei as a person who always had a smile on his face.
Hon Sidronius Okaasai minister of state for energy who represented the president at the burial said it is important to keep unity in the body of Christ and urged the clergy to embrace government programs.
Rt.Rev. Micheal Okwii Esakhan, the bishop of the Church of Uganda Soroti diocese asked the mourners to contribute generously towards supporting the widow.
