Bishop Banja Confirms Over 100 At Kisasi Church Of Uganda:Condemns Mob Justice Following Death Of Rugby Player Sydney Gongodyo.Launches Parish Projects To Improve Community Livelihoods.

The Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, Rt. Rev. Moses Banja, has condemned the rising cases of mob justice in the country, warning that the practice threatens the rule of law and often claims innocent lives. Speaking during a confirmation service at Kisasi Church of Uganda, where more than 100 children were confirmed into the Anglican faith, Bishop Banja also called on Christians to promote peace, environmental conservation, and responsible parenting. John Baptist reports.

Concern continues to grow over the increasing cases of mob justice in Uganda, with the recent death of rugby player Sydney Gongodyo reigniting calls for respect for the rule of law and protection of human life.

While addressing Christians at Kisasi Church of Uganda, the Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, Rt. Rev. Moses Banja, strongly condemned mob justice, urging members of the public to allow security agencies and courts of law to handle suspected criminals.

Bishop Banja said the growing incidents of violence and killings reflect a decline in love, compassion, and respect for human life. He called upon Christians to become agents of peace, reconciliation, and forgiveness within their communities.

The bishop also challenged believers to protect the environment, warning that continued destruction of natural resources undermines God's command to care for creation.

He further urged parents and guardians to nurture children in a God-fearing environment and provide them with sound moral and spiritual guidance.

Other church and community leaders echoed the bishop’s message, calling for unity, restraint, and greater respect for human life.

During the service, Bishop Banja confirmed more than 100 children into the Anglican faith and encouraged them to remain steadfast in their Christian walk.

The bishop also commissioned four parish development projects aimed at improving community welfare and promoting self-reliance.

The projects include a school, a commercial building, a health facility, and agricultural gardens.

Church leaders say the initiatives will strengthen service delivery and improve livelihoods within the parish and surrounding communities.

As concerns over mob justice continue to mount, church leaders are urging Ugandans to uphold the rule of law, protect human life, and work together to build peaceful and self-sustaining communities.
