
Bunyoro Embarks On Clan Identity, Norms Rejuvenation
The Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom has embarked on cultural and traditional rejuvenation through training clan heads on practices, artifacts, and norms cherished by the society.
The Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Premier Owekitisa Andrew Byakutaga told greater Kibaale clan leaders that the current generation especially the youth continue to disregard traditional beliefs, norms and practices in society.
The Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom insists that the society especially the youth continue to regard practices, artifacts, and norms as primitive due to advanced science and technology.
The Kingdom Premier Owekitinisa Andrew Byakutaga however told greater Kibaale clan leaders that they have a role to play in advancing and maintaining them.
The Kingdom social and cultural affairs coordinator, Robert Rukahemumura while meeting clan leaders from Kibaale, Kakumiro at Pride hotel in Karuguuza town Kibaale town Council revealed the need to uphold cultural artefacts, norms, values and practices in order to promote identity, unity and prosperity.
He further emphasized the need for greater Kibaale residents to cherish traditional values, practices, languages and education.
Paul Masengere and Ignatias Tibamwenda say religious leaders interfere with Kingdom cultural norms and practices during funeral services by giving instructions in the order of service and blame Kingdom officials for being reluctant on cultural issues.
Kayongo Leonard , the Kibaale district clan leader, asked the government to reconsider demands of Banyoro such as land titles, counties and asked kingdom officials to come on ground and sensitize the young generation on cultural issues.
