Church Of Uganda Gets New Partnerships And Projects
NAMIREMBE: The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, has announced the readiness of the One Child Project to take off in the pilot Dioceses of Kampala, Mukono, and Kigezi targeting slum and vulnerable areas.
Archbishop Kaziimba also announced a partnership with Daniel Uganda Project supported by Oryun Church in South Korea for youth leadership training and mentorship at the state-of-the-art facility they constructed at Lweza Training and Conference Centre to raise young leaders.
Archbishop Kaziimba made the announcements during the Provincial Assembly Standing Committee (PASC) meeting held at the Provincial Secretariat in Namirembe today.
"The leadership cream of Oryun Community Church visited us from 20th to 28th March 2023. About 70 Koreans were hosted by the Church of Uganda. During their visit, we discussed several partnership opportunities. We are grateful for this partnership," said Archbishop Kaziimba.
He expressed gratitude for the 207 delegates from the Church of Uganda that participated in the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) in Kigali, Rwanda from 17th to 21st April 2023.
"Church of Uganda was the third largest delegation at GAFCON after the United States and Nigeria. Everyone had to fund their own participation in the Conference, so it was a big sacrifice and sign of commitment to the Lord and His Church," said Archbishop Kaziimba.
During the meeting, the Provincial Secretary of the Church of Uganda, Rev. Canon William Ongeng, informed members about the All Clergy Conference from 12th to 14th July 2023 at Ndejje University and Church Army Conference for Church Evangelists from 21st to 24th August 2023.
He further informed them about the inauguration of West Ruwenzori as a Diocese on 27th August 2023 and East Busoga Diocese on 19th November 2023
During the meeting, PASC members laid strategies for fostering the Church of Uganda's self-sustainability agenda in the wake of donor cuts resulting from the Church's position of not blessing same-sex marriages.
