A Reflection for When Life Disrupts Our Dreams

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." — 1 Peter 5:6-7

We all make plans—meticulously, passionately, dreaming of what the future holds. But life has a way of interrupting those plans with unexpected twists and turns. Our days are filled with hopes and desires, yet sometimes, those dreams are shattered or postponed, leaving us disappointed and discouraged.

In these moments, the words of 1 Peter 5:6-7 remind us of a profound truth: we are under God's mighty hand. Everything—the joys and the setbacks, the successes and the setbacks—is within His perfect control. His care for us is unconditional, His love unfailing.

When plans falter, we are called to humility—to surrender our worries and anxieties to God—and trust in His greater purpose. Casting our cares upon Him liberates us from despair and reminds us that His timing is perfect. Even in the midst of hardship, we can hold onto hope that what seems like derailment is truly a detour toward something better—something beyond what we can imagine.

Let us live with joyful expectation, trusting that God is working behind the scenes to fulfill His divine plan for our lives. His good hand is guiding us, lifting us up in His time, and bringing beauty from ashes.

Heavenly Father,
You are the sovereign master of our lives. Though we often meticulously plan, we acknowledge that Your ways are higher than ours. Help us to humble ourselves before You, trusting in Your perfect timing and good plans. When our plans are disrupted, remind us that You care for us deeply and are working all things for our good.
May our hope be rooted in You alone, and may we find joy in Your presence, knowing that You are always at work, lifting us up in Your perfect way and perfect time.
