
Gen Katumba Wamala Challenges Church Leaders To Advocate For Love
While addressing the media at the commemoration of the late Archbishop of the Church of Uganda Dr. Livingstone Mpalanyi Nkoyoyo at Uganda Martyrs Anglican Site in Namugongo, Gen Katumba Wamala the Minister for Transport and Works called upon church leaders to use their platforms to advocate for unity among Ugandans.
The commemoration service was held at Uganda Martyr’s Anglican Site in Namugongo and was graced by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda the Most Reverend Samuel Steven Kazimba Mugalu, Minister of Works and Transport Gen. Katumba Wamala, Bishop of Namirembe Diocese Rt. Rev. Moses Banja and among other dignitaries.
Today marks 6 years since the death of His Grace Archbishop Dr. Livingstone Mpalanyi Nkoyoyo, who was Archbishop of the Church of the province of Uganda from 1995 to 2004 and died on 5th January, 2018.
He was buried at Uganda Martyrs Namugongo Anglican Site.
As a way of remembering his service especially in advocating for love and establishing the Uganda Martyr’s Museum, the church of Uganda today organized a holy communion which was attended by various leaders from the church, public and government.
Among the attendees includes the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda the Most Reverend Dr. Samuel Steven Kazimba Mugalu, Minister of Works and Transport Gen. Katumba Wamala, Bishop of Namirembe Diocese Rt. Rev. Moses Banja and among other dignitaries.
Addressing the media, General Katumba Wamala the Minister of Works and Transport who also doubled as the guest of honor challenged church leaders to use their platforms to advocate for love among Ugandans.
Wamala also called upon the general public to emulate late Nkoyoyo’s example of transparency and truthfulness saying by doing so Uganda will be a more secure place.
The Minister further re-echoed the government's commitment towards the church of Uganda in having the rehabilitation of the Namugongo Martyrs Anglican Site completed.
The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda His Grace the most rev. Dr. Samuel Steven Kazimba Mugalu described the late Archbishop Dr. Livingstone Mpalanyi Nkoyoyo as a man of valor and a strong leader who played a great role in the transformation of the church of Christ.
The Archbishop also took the ground to warn Christians against confusing the love advocated by Archbishop Nkoyoyo with the homosexuality love saying the latter advocated for the love with the Christ values.
Other Bishops and leaders also had this to say about the late Archbishop Dr. Livingstone Mpalanyi Nkoyoyo.
