Government Embarks On Business Incubation Among The Youth In Bunyoro Region

Ambrose

The Uganda Retirement Benefits Regulatory Authority has embarked on conducting business incubation or helping the youth create their jobs in Bunyoro Sub-Region.

The Minister for Public Service, Wilson Muruli Mukasa, who is promoting the program, was concerned that a number of government programs have been abused by the beneficiaries. The government then decided to conduct business incubation and financial literacy classes so that the youth know the value of money.

The Minister for Public Service, Wilson Muruli Mukasa engaged the youth in Kikuube, Hoima City, Masindi, and Kagadi districts. He explained that the business incubation program is aimed at empowering the youth to fight poverty through running income-generating projects.

He said many previous government programs aimed at alleviating poverty among the youths have not been fully embraced because the youth have not been adequately trained.

Badru Mugabi, the Hoima City Resident City Commissioner, and Amlan Tumusiime, the Kikuube district Resident district commissioner, said the youths need business incubation and financial literacy training to enable them to run sustainable income generation projects.

Jamil Ssebalu and Hassan Nakabale who were the facilitators of the training asked the youth not to wait for the government to get them rich but they should work for themselves and also embrace long-term savings.

The youths say they have been lacking proper information and that is why they have not benefited from government programs aimed at poverty eradication.
