Hon. Ssekikubo Demands Justice for Sembusi, Calls for Court Martial of Perpetrators

Lwemiyaga, Uganda — Tensions soared today as residents of Lwemiyaga County, led by their Member of Parliament, Hon. Theodore Ssekikubo, stormed Parliament demanding justice for the late Fred Sembusi, who was tragically killed during a community meeting last Friday. The grief-stricken delegation sought an urgent meeting with the Speaker but left without a response, intensifying calls for accountability.

The incident, suspected to be linked to a thwarted assassination attempt on Hon. Ssekikubo, has raised alarm about increased military involvement in what has traditionally been a peaceful region. Residents fear for their safety amid reports of heavy military deployment, which has sparked widespread concern and distrust within the community.

Led by Hon. Ssekikubo, the residents and grieving family members marched to Parliament to seek justice for Sembusi, who lost his life during a community gathering at Kirega Trading Centre in Lwemiyaga Sub-county. The MP recounted the tragic events, implicating Lt. Zziwa, who allegedly fired the fatal shot—initially aimed at Ssekikubo but striking Sembusi instead. Ssekikubo further alleged that Brigadier (Rtd) Emmanuel Rwashande ordered the operation.

"In a peaceful area like Lwemiyaga, we have never experienced insurgency or military presence," Hon. Ssekikubo lamented. "But now, the heavy deployment has incited fear and chaos among our people. Justice must be served, and those responsible must be tried in a court-martial."

The MP called on President Museveni to ensure swift action against those involved, emphasizing that no political rivalry or primaries should justify the loss of innocent lives.

Sembusi’s brother, Senkusu David, condemned the use of military force in civilian affairs, criticizing the government’s recent actions as a source of fear rather than protection. "The government is supposed to serve the people, not terrorize them. We demand justice," he stated passionately.

As the community continues to mourn, calls for transparency and justice grow louder, demanding that investigations be prioritized and those responsible held accountable.
