Kigezi Police Command Changes Hands In Latest Force Reshuffle:SSP Alex Wabwire Redeployed To Police Headquarters As SSP Ninsiima Takes Over.Leaders Praise Wabwire's Role In Maintaining Peace
The Regional Police Commander for the Kigezi Region, Senior Superintendent of Police Alex Wabwire, has been transferred and redeployed to Uganda Police Force Headquarters in Kampala after serving in the position for one year.
SSP Wabwire will be replaced by SSP Godfrey Ninsiima, who has been serving as the regional police commander for Kampala Metropolitan East.
Security leaders, police officers, local government officials, and community representatives gathered at Cepha Inn in Kabale to bid farewell to SSP Alex Wabwire following his transfer in the latest Uganda Police Force reshuffle.
Speaking during the function, SSP Wabwire expressed gratitude to fellow security agencies, local leaders, and residents across the Kigezi Sub-region for the support and cooperation they accorded him throughout his tenure as Regional Police Commander.
Wabwire noted that the strong collaboration among security agencies, district leaders, and local communities enabled him to effectively execute his responsibilities and strengthen security across the region.
Police commanders and officers who worked with him commended his leadership, professionalism, and commitment to duty, describing him as a dedicated officer who promoted teamwork and coordinated security operations effectively.
Local leaders from across the Kigezi Sub-region also praised Wabwire for his contribution to maintaining peace and stability, noting that he played a key role in strengthening cooperation between security agencies, local governments, and communities.
Several speakers observed that Kigezi has continued to enjoy relative peace and security during his tenure, attributing this to his leadership style, responsiveness, and commitment to community policing initiatives.
The transfer of SSP Wabwire forms part of the latest Uganda Police Force reshuffle aimed at strengthening service delivery and operational effectiveness within the force.
His successor, SSP Godfrey Ninsiima, takes over at a time when Kigezi remains one of the country's relatively stable regions, with leaders expressing confidence that he will build on the security gains achieved by his predecessor.
Wabwire is among several senior police officers affected by the recent transfers, which also saw former Kigezi Region Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate redeployed to a new assignment.
