Kikuube District Councillors Fight Over Resolutions

There was a physical fight last evening between a section of members of the district executive committee and councilors during a council session in the Kikuube district.

The fight broke out after a disagreement between the councilors and some members of the district executive committee over failure to implement law full council resolutions.

As the debate went on, Kikuube district Secretary for Production Nicholas Kiiza moved from his seat and attacked the Kabwooya Upper Male councilor Alex Byansi, who was on the floor presenting some issues.

Alex Byansi accused the district executive committee of failing the Public Accounts Committee to present reports, a hiccup in the promotion of the district staff to create an inventory of all the district assets.

Before he could finish his presentation, a fight erupted between some district executive committee members and other members of the council.

This prompted the Kikuube district council speaker Christopher Nkalu to adjourn the meeting prematurely.

Although council business was adjourned, Vincent Opio, the Kikuube district Chairperson went ahead to exchange with Alex Byansi accusing him of being used by self-seekers.

The councilors our reporter spoke to after the fight say some of the leaders are sabotaging the work of the district council despite unimplemented recommendations.

Kikuube Resident District Commissioner Amlan Tumusiime and other councilors requested the Minister for Local Government to intervene in the matter.

Amlan Tumusiime also advised the district to reconcile and embark on service delivery.
