Magogo Urges Parents to Foster Children’s Talents at Dr. Sylvia Alinaitwe Tumuheirwe Cup 2025

RWAMUCUCYU, UGANDA — In a powerful call to action, Eng. Moses Magogo, President of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) and Member of Parliament for Budiope East, urged parents to recognize and nurture their children’s talents. He delivered this message while serving as the Guest of Honor at the second edition of the Dr. Sylvia Alinaitwe Tumuheirwe Cup 2025, held at Rushebeya Playground in Rwamucucu Subcounty, Rukiga District.

The tournament, organized by Dr. Sylvia Alinaitwe, Deputy Managing Director of the National Water & Sewerage Corporation, attracted over 60 teams from various parishes across the district. Its goals are to identify and nurture youth talent while promoting community engagement, health, and unity through sports.

In an exhilarating boys’ final, Sindi Ward clinched victory against defending champions Nyakagabagaba with a close score of 1-0. The girls’ final ended in a dramatic 1-1 draw between Rukiga North and Rukiga South, with Rukiga North emerging victorious in a penalty shootout.

Magogo praised Dr. Alinaitwe for her unwavering commitment to sports development in the region and encouraged local residents to actively support young talents. In her remarks, Dr. Alinaitwe congratulated the winning teams and underscored the importance of sports in fostering discipline, health, and social cohesion. She also reaffirmed her commitment to youth empowerment through sports, pledging to continue expanding the tournament annually.

In addition to celebrating the tournament, Magogo donated translated Qurans, Islamic prayer mats, and other religious items to the local Muslim community, aiming to promote interfaith harmony and strengthen community bonds in Rukiga.

The event drew a wide range of dignitaries, including former Uganda Cranes captain Hassan Wasswa, political leaders, religious figures, and hundreds of enthusiastic locals.
