The leaders also urged the faithful to embrace economic empowerment through savings initiatives

The construction and expansion of Katuna Mosque received a significant boost following a UGX 60 million donation delivered by Ndorwa County West Member of Parliament, Hon. Eliab Naturinda Mporera, accompanied by UK-based businessman Hajji Muhammad Asiifu.

Speaking during a function at the mosque, Hon. Mporera urged members of the Muslim community to use UGX 50 million for the ongoing construction works and reserve UGX 10 million to establish a Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization, commonly known as a SACCO.

He noted that the SACCO would help members develop a saving culture, improve household incomes, and promote economic empowerment among Muslim faithful.

Kabale County Sheikh Ibrahim Byomuhangi welcomed the donation, describing it as historic and unprecedented support towards the development of the Muslim community in the district.

Members of the mosque, expressed gratitude to Hon. Mporera and Hajji Asiifu, saying the support will not only improve worship facilities but also strengthen community development initiatives through the proposed SACCO.

The donation comes at a time when the Muslim community in Katuna is seeking to expand its worship facilities to meet the needs of a growing congregation.
