NIRA Postpones National ID Exercise To Next Month
The Executive Director of the National Identification Registration Authority [NIRA], Rosemary Kisembo, has issued an apology for the change in the previously communicated date for the mass National ID registration.
Speaking to the media at NIRA headquarters in Kololo, Kisembo announced the end of July as the official date for the mass National ID enrollment. These changes come as a result of unforeseen delays in the procurement process.
Recently, the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) revealed that the mass registration for national IDs all over the country would kick off in June this year.
However, today, the National Identification and Registration Authority has postponed the mass enrollment and renewal of national identification cards to July next month.
The exercise, which was supposed to start on the 1st of June this month, was never executed as planned. NIRA's Executive Director, Rosemary Kisembo, has attributed the postponement to what she called unforeseen delays in the procurement process.
She attributed to a similar exercise which was carried out in four months and it was successful she has assured the public that the exercise will be carried out.
