His nomination sets the stage for a highly contested race as he prepares to face off against Beatrice Mao of the DP and Ibrahim Kasozi of the FDC.

Today, the Electoral Commission's Regional Office in Ntinda, Kampala, officially nominated Erias Lukwago, the People's Front for Freedom candidate, in the Kampala Lord Mayor race as large crowds of supporters gathered to witness the announcement.

During his address, Erias Lukwago stated that his bid for a fourth term is driven by a commitment to realizing the goals he has championed over the past 15 years. He emphasized that he is contesting again to fight for a Kampala that serves all Ugandans, not just a privileged few whom he referred to as "rich mafias."

Erias Lukwago stated that if re-elected, his focus will be on improving the city's drainage system and other key development projects, which he claims are currently under threat.

He also condemned the police for what he described as excessive force, accusing them of rudely intercepting his team, tear-gassing, beating, and arresting some of his supporters.

Lukwago concluded by emphasizing that campaigns should be about engaging with the people, not intimidation. He is set to face off against Beatrice Mao of the Democratic Party (DP) and Ibrahim Kasozi of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) in the upcoming mayoral elections.

Among the nominees for LC5 Chairperson was Moroo Geofrey, who is contesting for the Nakawa II seat. He arrived at the Electoral Commission office with a colorful entourage, accompanied by traditional Arakar dances, and expressed his readiness to serve the people of Nakawa with dedication and commitment.
