President Museveni Calls For Key Reforms In Liberation Day Address

The National Resistance Movement – NRM members have this afternoon celebrated the 37th anniversary anniversary of the party being in power, in commemoration of the emerging successful from the liberation war that existed for five years from 1980 to 1986.

President Yoweri Museveni in his address emphasized the need for social economic transformation of communities, development, mass education, ridding the country of corruption, sectarianism and stressed the dire need for environmental conservation.

Hundreds of Ugandans graced the 37th liberation day celebrations held in Kakumiro district.

Speaking during the function, Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja thanked the president for the able leadership but also reminded the president of his unfulfilled pledges to the people of Bunyoro.

In her response, Vice President Her Excellency retired Major Jessica Alupo confirmed that on behalf of the president she will work closely with the prime minister to meet and discuss Bunyoro challenges as a way to find a solution to their grievances.

President Yoweri Museveni in his address expressed satisfaction in the direction in which the country is taking economically, noting a steadfast growth since liberation in 1986.

The president also called for poverty eradication through key developmental government programs that he encouraged Ugandans to take advantage of.

Concerning sectarianism, the president in a tough tone warned of dire consequences for culprits.

He promised not to close an eye to any public serve who will be found guilty of corruption, warning culprits especially at local government to interfere with the proper outlined recruitment processes

Several dignitaries who have previously served in key government positions and those currently in government, war veterans and common Ugandans graced the event.
