President Museveni Opens Bujuuko Church: Calls On Religious Leaders To Promote Wealth Creation

President Museveni has called on religious leaders to play a more active role in fighting household poverty, as he officially opened Life Restoration Ministries Church in Bujuuko, Wakiso District and pledged support towards its development projects.

Speaking at the inauguration, where he was represented by State Minister for Economic Monitoring Beatrice Akello Akori, the President praised the partnership between government and the church in promoting socio-economic transformation and donated 30 million shillings towards the church’s construction.

The church, led by Pastors Kenneth Kato Mwesigwa and Olivia Kato Mwesigwa, is located in Nansana–Bujuuko in Wakiso District. It was officially inaugurated yesterday, with President Yoweri Museveni represented by the state minister for Economic Monitoring in the Office of the President, Beatrice Akello Akori.

On arrival in Bujuuko, State Minister Beatrice Akello Akori was received by Pastor Robert Kayanja. She was later taken on a guided tour of the church site, where she expressed admiration for the development and praised the project's progress.

In his message, President Yoweri Museveni commended the cooperation between the NRM government and the church, highlighting its role in driving transformation and fighting poverty.

Referring to Philippians 3:20, President Yoweri Museveni urged religious leaders to use their pulpits to encourage believers to engage in wealth creation through agriculture, industry, technology, and other sectors.

He added that Jesus, though a preacher of the Gospel, also worked as a carpenter, emphasising the importance of combining faith with productive work.

President Yoweri Museveni said that 33 out of every 100 working Ugandans still need support to engage in income-generating activities. He noted that while the government is responsible for providing infrastructure such as schools, hospitals, and roads, the fight against household poverty begins with individuals. He therefore appealed to religious leaders to support efforts promoting wealth creation.

Pastor Kenneth Kato Mwesigwa, the church founder, praised President Yoweri Museveni and the NRM government for safeguarding freedom of worship and supporting all religious denominations.

He outlined the church’s plans, including constructing a 20,000-seater sanctuary, building a hospital and a school, and expanding outreach beyond the church community.

At the event, Pastor Robert Kayanja and his wife Jessica Kayanja were in attendance and actively participated as the minister officiated the ribbon-cutting ceremony to launch the church.

Afterwards, the Minister presented a donation of 30 million shillings from the President to support the construction of the church.
