SACCO Learders In Kabale Count Losses Are Farmers Blame Climate Change For Defaulting

Farmers in Kabale district under their farmers SACCO have decried the continuous production losses attributed to natural calamities. Farmers said that the unreliable climate can no longer favor them in agriculture production.

Subsequently, many of these farmers have defaulted on loans acquired to invest in agriculture.  Farmers in Kabale district under their SACCO, Nyabyumba farmers saving and credit cooperative held their annual general meeting today, at the SACCO headquarters in Nyabyumba, Kamuganguzi sub-county in Kabale district.

The leaders revealed there are so many defaulters in the SACCO. The SACCO lends to most farmers. These have attributed defaulting to climate change which has since affected the expectations of the harvests.
Farmers are said to have also engaged in multiple borrowing making the situation loss
Members have been challenged to learn financial discipline if they are going to dig their sacco and themselves out of debt.


Nyabyumba farmers' SACCO started in 2004 with 60 members. The number has since grown to 2514 members.
