The Uganda Business And Technical Examinations Board Results Released
The Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB) has released the results for the end of the programme and modular examinations of the November/December 2022 assessment.
John Chrysostom Muyingo, the State Minister for Higher Education who represented the First Lady and Education Minister, Janet Museveni, presided over the event held at the President’s Office Conference Hall in Kampala.
The Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board UBTEB conducted the November/December 2022 examinations from 21st November to 22nd December 2022 in 600 examination centres. A total of 72,247 students, 21,641 females and 50,606 males took the exams for different trades.
Results have been released for students under the Technical National Certificate and Uganda Community Polytechnic Certificate programmes that are both ends of the programme and modular assessment.
Others are Advanced Craft Programme, Business Diploma and Certificate programmes as well as physical and biological science diploma and certificate programmes.
According to the UBTEB Executive Secretary, Onesimus Oyesigye, 66,954 students, representing 92.7% turned up for the examinations while 5,293 students (7.3%) did not sit for one or more modules.
Oyesigye was happy with the big turnup of female students for technical vocational training compared to previous years. He cited some of the possible reasons for the improved numbers.
Oyesigye said that UBTEB has imposed strict rules to guard against cheating and over 90 candidates who were sanctioned for the offence had their examination results cancelled.
He also attributed the cause of absenteeism to the failure of some students to meet tuition fee requirements, early engagement in the workspace, and sicknesses.
State Minister for Higher Education, John Chrysostom Muyingo, who represented the Education Minister, Janet Museveni at the release of the results, thanked the UBTEB management for fast-tracking the reforms in Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and for ensuring its effective delivery to the country to help in job creation.
Muyingo urged the Ministry’s technical team to work closely with UBTEB to resolve some of the issues challenging the department, including low enrolment for some courses.
The Board registered and provided examination support personnel for 128 candidates with special needs, including 12 candidates with hearing, and 19 with visual impairment, dyslexia (62), the mentally challenged (15) and, 20 physically disabled.
