Trader’s Concern Take Center Stage, UNATA Engages In Dialogue


The Uganda National Traders Alliance (UNATA) has engaged with traders in Mbale to address a range of challenges affecting the business sector, particularly following the introduction of the new Market Act.

The act has raised concerns among traders regarding administrative changes and the lack of proper consultation. As part of its efforts, UNATA is collecting data and gathering input from traders to better understand their concerns, especially the law’s impact on market operations.

 

The Uganda National Association of Traders and Entrepreneurs (UNATA) is actively involved in discussions to identify and address the concerns of the business community.

The meetings are part of a broader effort to collect data and gather input from traders across the country, including in major cities like Mbale.


In Mbale, traders have voiced concerns about the new Market Act and its impact on market operations, including the removal of the market executive and the transfer of management to the urban authority.

These concerns have led to protests and a call for intervention from President Museveni and other relevant authorities however, these have been promised of change


Mbale City Mayor Cassim Namugali noted that the meeting with various leaders and traders is to create change not only in the business world but also in the political field.
