Uganda witnessed a historic political moment today as President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni officially took oath for his seventh elective term in office at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds amid massive celebrations, heightened security, and renewed commitments from leaders and supporters of the National Resistance Movement to support the government’s development agenda.

The Kololo Ceremonial Grounds were awash in yellow as thousands of supporters, government officials, Members of Parliament, diplomats, women leaders and NRM mobilizers gathered to witness the inauguration of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for another five-year term.

The atmosphere was marked by excitement, celebration, and patriotic chants as supporters waved party flags, sang revolutionary songs, and applauded the president's return to office.

The colourful ceremony attracted regional leaders, foreign dignitaries, and representatives from different sectors, reflecting Uganda’s significance within the East African region and the African continent.

Moments after taking the oath, President Museveni reaffirmed his commitment to fighting corruption, improving household incomes, and accelerating socio-economic transformation under what he described as “Kisanja No More Sleep for Ugandans.”

The slogan quickly became the dominant message throughout the celebrations, with leaders and supporters describing the new term as a period focused on hard work, wealth creation, and service delivery.

Women leaders attending the ceremony pledged continued support to the NRM government, saying empowerment programs such as the Parish Development Model, Emyooga and women's livelihood initiatives have improved the lives of many families across the country.

Members of Parliament also reaffirmed their commitment to support government programs and legislation aimed at improving infrastructure, healthcare, education, industrialization, and agricultural commercialization.

Supporters expressed optimism that the new term would speed up development projects, create employment opportunities for the youth, and strengthen Uganda’s economic growth.

President Museveni now begins another five-year mandate, extending his leadership to 2031, with expectations centered on economic transformation, anti-corruption efforts, infrastructure development and implementation of wealth creation programs across the country.
