Canon John Tereraho Installed as Canon of Muhabura Diocese at St. Andrew’s Cathedral Seseme

Canon John Tereraho Installed as Canon of Muhabura Diocese at St. Andrew’s Cathedral Seseme

Canon John Tereraho reflected on his journey from a humble background to a life of privilege, calling the moment at St. Andrew’s Cathedral Seseme a poignant Ebenezer—an ever-present reminder of God’s faithfulness. The Thanksgiving service, hosted by the Diocese of Muhabura and the Provincial Head of Laity, also celebrated his installation as Canon of the Diocese of Muhabura.

The ceremony, presided over by Retired Bishop Cranmer Mugisha on behalf of Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev. Mbitse Godfrey, highlighted a theme of service and ministry. In a benediction-filled service, Bishop Mugisha encouraged Canon Tereraho to proclaim that “Jesus gives life,” inviting all attendees to participate in Christ’s ministry.

Canon Tereraho, who also serves as the Provincial Head of Laity, expressed humility and gratitude for the appointment, stating that the title “Canon of Muhabura” is not something to be taken for granted. He reaffirmed his commitment to leading with faith, integrity, and service to the church and community.

In a show of tangible support for the cathedral’s ongoing construction, Canon Tereraho and his family made a substantial contribution: 8 million Uganda shillings, a cow, and 100 iron sheets valued at 12 million Uganda shillings, earmarked for roofing the New Cathedral. The donation underscores a shared commitment to the cathedral’s mission and the growth of the diocese.

Retired Bishop Cranmer Mugisha (on behalf of Rt. Rev. Mbitse Godfrey): “You were called to tell others that Jesus gives life, and if you accept Him, participate in Christ’s ministry.”

Canon John Tereraho: “I am deeply grateful for this appointment. The title is an opportunity to serve, to give back, and to witness God’s faithfulness in every step.”

The Diocese of Muhabura, under the leadership of Bishop Mbitse Godfrey, continues to expand its services and infrastructure through the dedicated support of clergy and laity alike. Canon Tereraho’s installation as Canon marks a milestone in his ecclesial journey and signals a renewed emphasis on lay leadership in the diocese.

The thanksgiving service at St. Andrew’s Cathedral Seseme reflects a community grounded in faith, gratitude, and a shared vision for the future of the Muhabura Diocese and its cathedral project.
