Two Senior Four Candidates Dead, 42 Injured In A Fatal Accident In Soroti
East Kyoga Police is investigating a fatal accident that claimed the lives of two students of Midland High School in Kaberamaido district.
The incident occurred in Soroti on Soroti – Mbale Highway on Thursday after the school bus the students were using rammed into a stationary truck.
Two senior four students died instantly and over 40 survived with severe injuries.
The Police identified the deceased as Susan Alwedo a resident of Awije and Peter Eringu a resident of Kaburapoli, Ocero subcounty both senior four candidates at Midland High School in Kaberamaido district.

Superintendent of Police John Robert Tukei, the acting East Kyoga police spokesperson, said the crash occurred when a bus registration number UG 1951E belonging to Busitema University Arapai campus rammed into a stationary trailer registration number UBL 709T/UQ781C.
He confirmed the students involved in an accident were from Midland High School in Kaberamaido district.
Tukei also confirmed that two students died on the spot.
The head teacher of Midland High School, John Baptist Egou said the bus was carrying senior four students from Midland High School who were heading to Masese in Jinja for Geography fieldwork when it got into an accident near Awoja primary school, Aukot sub-county in Soroti district.
Rev. Sr. Dr. Mary Margret Ajiko said two students of Midland High School in Kaberamaido district died on the spot while 42 are hospitalized at Soroti Regional Referral Hospital following a tragic accident involving a bus they were traveling in.
Rev, Sr Ajiko added that the injured students were admitted to Ward 9 (Private wing), ward one and two Surgical wards.
Sr. Dr. Ajiko said the Hospital was overwhelmed with the number of accident patients.
Idd Shakashaka, the Chairperson of LC3 Kaberamaido Town Council explained that among the injured were three teachers and a school director.
James Edau, a parent to the deceased student (Eringu) expressed bitterness saying he sent his son to school but was informed this morning about his sudden death.
late in the evening, the two bodies were transported to Kaberamaido Mortuary.
Meanwhile, the doctors and all the medical staff including intern doctors and nurses worked hard to save the lives of the injured students. The hospital ambulances were on standby running up and down taking the injured students for X-ray service.
