U.C.A Calls For The Introduction Of Co-operative Education In Schools

The Uganda Co-operative Alliance has called for the introduction of co-operative education in schools across the country in a move to foster economic empowerment and sustainable development.

The General Secretary for Uganda Co-operative Alliance noted the importance of co-operatives in driving economic growth and improving livelihoods and their proposal suggests incorporating co-operative principles and practices into various subjects which will equip students with an understanding of how co-operatives function.

Barnabas Tinkasimire, the Member of Parliament for Buyaga West says the Uganda Co-operative Alliance, a leading advocate for co-operative development in the country, believes that integrating co-operative education into the school curriculum will not only enhance students' understanding of economic principles but also instill values of collaboration, shared responsibility, and community building from an early age.

Ivan Asiimwe, the General Secretary for Uganda Co-operative Alliance, emphasized the importance of co-operatives in driving economic growth and improving livelihoods.
He says Co-operatives play a vital role in society, contributing to poverty reduction, job creation, and sustainable development.

According to him, it is crucial that young minds are introduced to the co-operative model early on, fostering a culture of teamwork and social responsibility.

The proposal from the Uganda Co-operative Alliance suggests incorporating co-operative principles and practices into various subjects which will equip students with an understanding of how co-operatives function and their positive impact on local communities.
