Archbishop Kaziimba Makes Surprise Visit to St. Thomas’ Church Kira, Urges Christians to Support Children and Pray for Prisoners

Kira, Uganda — In a surprise move, the Most Rev. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, visited St. Thomas’ Church in Kira during a Sunday service today. Accompanied by his chaplain, Rev. Johnson Kansiime, the archbishop's appearance sparked joy and excitement among the congregation.

During his visit, Archbishop Kaziimba expressed gratitude to St. Thomas’s Church for its dedication to Sunday school and emphasized that children are the future of the church. “Without children, the church is almost insignificant,” he asserted. He then led a heartfelt prayer, asking for God’s blessing upon all the children present.

The archbishop shared that his impromptu visits are intentional to connect with Christians unprepared, believing these moments foster genuine fellowship. He also explained his recent absence from family, mentioning his wife Margaret Naggayi Kaziimba’s recent surgery in Germany and sharing about their four children.

Archbishop Kaziimba called on Christians to pray continuously, emphasizing that many prisoners are innocent and that God is the ultimate helper, especially when loved ones forsake us. He reminded everyone that God does not forget and is always ready to help those who seek Him.

The service also included a reminder from the parish presbyter about the two greatest commandments: loving God with all your heart and loving your neighbor as yourself. Additionally, the church celebrated the choir’s victory in this year’s parish choir competition held at St. Nooh Kitukutwe.

Church leaders, including Parish Chair Andrew Joel Lumbuye, Treasurer Sam Ntulume, Guest Coordinator Betty Twinomugisha, and several church elders, expressed appreciation for the congregation's active participation and commitment to church activities.
