Kasese District has received Ebola prevention supplies from Caritas Uganda and Catholic Relief Services (CRS) to strengthen community preparedness and support efforts to prevent the spread of the disease in schools, churches, and other public institutions.

Kasese District has received a consignment of Ebola prevention equipment from Caritas Uganda and Catholic Relief Services during a handover ceremony held at the district headquarters.

The donation was received by district leaders and members of the district Ebola response team as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen preparedness against possible outbreaks.

Receiving the equipment, Kasese Deputy Resident District Commissioner Lt. Maate Magwara commended Caritas Uganda and Catholic Relief Services for supporting the district's Ebola response, describing the donation as timely in strengthening community preparedness.

Magwara reminded the public that Ebola spreads through direct contact with an infected person or contaminated materials, urging communities to maintain proper hygiene, particularly in schools, churches, and other places where large numbers of people gather.

Caritas Uganda Emergency Response Manager Kule Adidas said the organization is supplying essential Ebola prevention materials, with additional equipment expected to arrive in the coming days to further strengthen the district's response capacity.

He said priority will be given to densely populated institutions, including schools and places of worship, noting that more than Shs35 million has already been invested in procuring the prevention supplies.

Catholic Relief Services representative Jostus Muhangi said the organization will complement the donated supplies with community sensitization campaigns aimed at increasing public awareness on Ebola prevention and response.

Muhangi said CRS will continue working closely with the Kasese District Ebola Task Force and local communities to strengthen surveillance and prevent the spread of the disease.

District leaders say the donated equipment and planned community awareness activities will enhance Kasese's preparedness and protect communities against possible Ebola outbreaks.
