Nigerian Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Markus Dogo Tours Historic Mackay Cave and Inspires Community at Martyrs Church Nateete
Kampala, Uganda — The Bishop of Kafanchan Diocese in Nigeria, Rt. Rev. Dr. Markus Dogo, continues his inspiring visit to Namirembe Diocese with a historic tour of significant sites and motivational engagements. His visit included a memorable tour of the historic Mackay Cave in Nateete and a powerful gathering at Martyrs Church, where he encouraged the community to trust in God and prioritize education amidst life’s trials.
The Nigerian bishop commenced his tour at Mackay Cave, a site of great historical importance as it was used by the renowned missionary Alexander Mackay to hide from King Mwanga of Buganda. The site tour was followed by a warm reception at Mackay Memorial School, where jubilant pupils welcomed him.
During his address to the students, Bishop Dogo urged the young learners to cherish and make good use of their educational opportunities, emphasizing that education is a vital tool for personal and community development.
Later, Bishop Dogo assembled with a large gathering of women at Martyrs Church Nateete, including the Inspector General of Government, Hon. Betty Kamya. His message centered on trusting in God during difficult times, encouraging those present to find strength in prayer and faith even amidst adversity.
The Mothers Union President of Namirembe Diocese, Roseline Bingi Kawiso, expressed gratitude to Bishop Dogo and his wife for their kindness and called on mothers and women to remain prayerful and resilient.
Hon. Betty Kamya appealed to well-wishers to continue supporting the construction of the new Martyrs Church Nateete, praising the architectural significance of the project and emphasizing its importance as a community landmark.
Bishop Markus Dogo’s visit underscores the strong bonds of faith, community, and history that unite Uganda and Nigeria. His inspiring messages continue to uplift and motivate the Namirembe community to trust in God and work together for a brighter future.
